b+m surface systems at FEIMEC: Advanced Robotic Paint Lines

Publicidade

b+m surface systems GmbH is an internationally recognized supplier of turnkey, fully integrated robotic paint systems. The company’s presence at FEIMEC in Brazil is part of its international growth strategy and focuses on paint application technology, robot integration, process engineering, and the modernization of existing paint lines.

Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Germany, b+m surface systems began as a specialist in application and automation technology. From an early stage, the company pursued a strategy of technological independence by developing key paint application components in-house, including atomizers, dosing technology, and paint supply systems.

A major milestone followed in 2001 with the launch of the T1-Robot, the first painting robot fully developed and manufactured by b+m. In 2003, the integration of plant manufacturer Widmer+Ernst enabled the company to offer complete robotic paint lines from a single source and strengthened its role as a general contractor for advanced surface finishing solutions.

Over the following years, b+m established itself as the European market leader for plastic paint lines serving automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. The company’s technology portfolio was further expanded in 2020 through the acquisition of the service and spare parts business of Eisenmann’s application technology division, including important patents for internally and externally charged high-speed rotary atomizers. Building on this foundation, b+m surface systems entered the field of automotive body painting nearly a decade ago and has since delivered several large-scale paint lines for leading global OEMs.

Today, b+m is a 100% family-owned and owner-managed group of companies with a global presence across multiple locations. As one of the few suppliers worldwide capable of covering the full technology chain of the painting process, b+m surface systems combines process engineering, application technology, automation and AI systems, robotics, installation, commissioning, and lifecycle support. This high level of vertical integration is a key differentiator for customers requiring reliable, high-performance paint systems. Application technology remains one of the key value-added technologies within the b+m group and is therefore an important focus of the company’s presentation at FEIMEC.

With its strategic expansion into Latin America, b+m surface systems is strengthening its market presence in Brazil and the wider LATAM region through its recently established cooperation with RS-Systems, a Brazilian engineering specialist focused on robotic painting solutions for OEMs and general industry. RS-Systems regional experience in systems engineering, commissioning, and sustainable technologies perfectly complements b+m’s German engineering and application technology portfolio.

Together, both companies offer customers an integrated technology and service package designed for process reliability, performance, and compliance with local requirements. Customers in the LATAM region benefit not only from advanced equipment and process know-how, but also from local support, including customs handling, regulatory certification, fast on-site service, and flexible local sourcing capabilities.

Looking ahead, b+m surface systems continues to invest in advanced surface finishing technologies. The company allocates at least two percent of its annual revenue to research and development, with a particular focus on automation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Market-ready solutions such as AI-based surface inspection systems and automated path and program generation tools for painting robots are already demonstrating their value in industrial applications. In the long term, b+m surface systems is working toward the concept of the self-learning paint line, supported by products and technologies already included in the company’s development roadmap.

With an established reference at Great Wall Motor in the region, b+m surface systems and RS-Systems are well positioned to address the growing demand for modernization, automation, and sustainability in Latin America. The companies see strong potential in Brazil in the coming years, both for greenfield paint shop projects and brownfield retrofit and modernization programs.

In a competitive environment comparable to that of the European Union, b+m aims to differentiate itself through engineering quality, process know-how, innovative application technology, and strong local support.
